We're thrilled to announce that bookings are open for our SPF Annual Dinner 2024 to take place on Thursday 10 October at the EICC in Edinburgh.

We are delighted that the Former Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, The Rt Hon Michael Gove is our after-dinner speaker on the night. With over 20 years experience in British politics we can guarantee that Mr Gove will have plenty of candid insights to share from his time in Westminster and on the current political landscape across the UK.

Keynote Speaker

Rt Hon Ian Murray MP

Secretary of State for Scotland and Scottish Labour MP for Edinburgh South

Ian Murray was appointed Secretary of State for Scotland on 5 July 2024. He has been the Member of Parliament for Edinburgh South continuously since May 2010.

Ian was first elected to public office in 2003 when he won a local council seat in Edinburgh. Seven years later, he was elected as the MP for Edinburgh South, and was the only Labour MP in Scotland to retain their seat in the 2015 and 2019 General Elections.

Ian served as the Shadow Secretary of State for Scotland from 2015-2016 and from 2020-2024. He has also been the Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Shadow Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, the Shadow Minister for Employee Relations, Consumer and Postal Affairs, and the Shadow Minister for Trade and Investment.

Ian has served on the Business, Innovation and Skills Select Committee (2010-2012) and Foreign Affairs Select Committee (2016-2020).

The Rt Hon Michael Gove

Former Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities

From 2017 until 2019, Michael served as Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. After the Conservative party leadership contest Michael was appointed Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster with responsibility for Brexit preparedness. Post 2019 General Election, Michael was re-elected as MP for Surrey Heath and reappointed Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster. From September 2021 – July 2022, Michael served as Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities and Minister for Intergovernmental Relations.

In October 2022, Michael was reappointed by the Prime Minister Rishi Sunak as Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities and Minister for Intergovernmental Relations.

He also writes a weekly column in The Times.

Jessica Hardman

BPF President

CEO & Co-Founder of Aboria Capital

Aboria Capital CEO and Co-Founder Jessica Hardman has over 20 years of experience in real estate investment. Jessica recently co-founded Aboria Capital with Downing Students, with the ambition to become a leading investment manager in the European Living sector market. 

She started out her investment career at BNP Paribas and then joining Deutsche Bank’s real estate funds business in 2004. Jessica has enjoyed a successful, varied career with Deutsche Bank and DWS; first leading transaction teams culminating in €12bn of transactions, and subsequently running European fund management for international investors. Jessica was a pioneer and trusted portfolio manager for the wave of inward capital flows from Asian institutional clients from 2011.  She built a multi-billion assets under management (AuM) business for Deutsche Bank, utilising her skills in business building, leadership and investment solutions. In 2023 Jessica became the CEO of DWS UK, overseeing 500 staff and over €200bn AuM across Global Alternatives and Passive public market strategies.

In 2024, Jessica was appointed President of the British Property Federation and joined the board of INREV, the European non-listed real estate association.
